Looking after the environment – and doing it well


We all have a role to play in the care of our environment and its resources. In 1998 we introduced formal waste, water and energy reduction programmes.

We especially pay attention to our use of New Zealand’s raw materials, water, energy and other resources, as well as minimising our emissions.

Each year we develop environmental management programmes for our four breweries. While each programme takes account of the brewery’s age and equipment, the overall targets are consistent.

As part of the global Heineken network, these programmes are world best practice and include:
