HEINEKEN Graduate Programme @ DB

The HEINEKEN Graduate Programme at DB Breweries is a global accelerated leadership programme designed for recent graduates who want to brew their career with one of the world's largest beer companies!

Based at our Waitemata Brewery in Auckland, the "HGP" is designed to grow future leaders for DB and HEINEKEN by providing you with the tools, support and experiences you'll need to succeed.

Throughout the programme, you'll get to apply your learning to real-world problems and make a tangible difference to our products and ways of working.

Applications for the HGP open around June-July each year for the following year's intake.

Who are we looking for?

Our ideal candidates for the HGP are people who've graduated with a degree within the past two years.  We look for people who have a degree relevant to the opportunity advertised; for instance, if we have a Supply Chain opening, our ideal candidate would hold a degree in science, supply chain, mechanical or electrical engineering.

Beyond qualifications, our ideal people will align with our four company values and demonstrate:

  • The ability to connect and work cohesively with others;
  • Communication skills that ensure the effective sharing of ideas and opinions;
  • Good problem solving skills;
  • A good level of curiosity;
  • Self-motivation and tenacity.

Our programme is based at our Waitemata Brewery and Support Office in Otahuhu, but you'll need the flexibility to relocate to one of our breweries in New Zealand or the Asia Pacific region for one of your assignments for 4-6 months.  Relocation costs will be covered by DB.

Meet some of our graduates

Of course, you don't need to take our word for the opportunities and experiences the HGP will provide!  Find out what our current and past graduates have to say about the programme and being part of our team.

Brewing future leaders

Our programme tasks you with four business-critical projects (we call them "assignments") that are designed to help you develop capability and expertise in your chosen discipline. The timing of the assignments looks something like this:

January to May   Assignment 1 (4 months)
May to September   Assignment 2 (4 months)
September to December   Assignment 3 (4 months)
Christmas  / New Year break
January to June   Assignment 4 (six months)
From July   Your permanent role with DB commences

The purpose of the HGP is to mould future leaders for DB and HEINEKEN so, at the conclusion of your four assignments, you'll "land" into a permanent middle management position where you'll further expand your experience on-the-job with the ongoing support of your line manager, HGP mentor, and the learning and development tools available at DB.
